When we get caught in a cycle of doing the same things over and over, day after day, life can begin to feel mundane. The activities that once captivated us and brought us so much joy turn to regular routine, and we lose the appreciation that we once had.
If this cycle persists long enough, we can begin to question even why we do the things we do. It’s especially difficult when we compare ourselves to others, or feel like time is running out.
Assuming you’re still on a path of doing something that you enjoy and that is moving you towards your larger goals, the fastest solution to breaking this cycle is changing things up.
Take a break from your regularly scheduled “programming”, add in some social activities with people you rarely see, get out in nature, etc…
It doesn’t matter so much what you do, but rather that you do something you’re unaccustomed to, and that brings you a sense of excitement. By bringing back excitement, we can begin to bring back life.
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
— Marcus Aurelius
