What I’m Doing Now

I’ve been working from home for five weeks now. Last week I bought a nice electric sit-stand desk, and right now I’m just waiting on a CPU so I can build my new computer – I also want to order a second monitor once my setup is ready (I received good feedback from friends and colleagues who work the dual system).

Although I probably don’t think about it a lot, I’m incredibly grateful to be employed right now. Many of my friends, like me, are preparing to finish the last classes of their degrees in the next couple weeks, but, because of coronavirus implications, don’t have a job lined up. I know there are much worse things going on right now in the world, but their situation still sucks. For me personally, college ends tomorrow with my History of Medieval Europe exam. Yeah, yeah, I needed more non-business electives.

I’m right at the tipping point of school completely falling off, which will give me more time to focus on other things. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a while, but the date really snuck up on me. Hard to believe that four years have gone by so quickly. Depending on when you’re reading this, I may have a piece on those four years here. If not, I guess you’ll just have to wait!

I’m finding it a little tough to stay active in this quarantine environment, but I’m managing to get out for walks and hikes a decent amount. Far from ideal, but at least it’s something. I’ve been telling myself to buy a kettlebell for months now, but I just haven’t done it. No legitimate excuse, really.

I’ve been trying different polyphasic sleep schedules for the past six-ish months now, and I’m currently sleeping 6 hours at night with a 20 minute nap in the early afternoon. I’m a big fan of napping – more time and more mental alertness. Win-win!

I don’t want to reveal what I’m planning on using my newly found time for just yet, but I promise, I will! One thing I can say is that I’m trying to cut down a list of content (written and video) that I can create to post here on my website. As someone who never really identified with being a “creative type”, I’m excited to delve into some personal projects.

I’m sure there’s more to talk about, but I’ll save that for my next update. Bis Später!
