Balancing the Burn

We all have false constructs surrounding our time. “I’m just really busy right now,” we say, or “right now just isn’t a great time”.

We don’t say these things deceitfully either – we really believe it. We tell ourselves that this is just a blip from the routine we want, that we’re just caught in a freak storm that will subside in a short period of time.

The truth is, nothing will change if we don’t intentionally block out time, if we don’t make today different. Ignorant to this truth, we can go through life continually pulled to different tasks, telling ourselves that tomorrow will bring us free time to chase after our aspirations and really enjoy ourselves.

In doing this, we treat life as a means to an end, always striving to hit a certain level of achievement, or even just to get to the end of the week. When will we wake up and truly live? When will we forget about the future, enjoy today, and – as cliché as it is – seize the day?

Today will come and go, and so will tomorrow. The question that should be asked, then, is what is stopping us from living fully right now? Don’t let life pass by without enjoying it for everything it offers. Whatever the situation, there is always beauty to behold and an experience to be had.

“Time is short, do take it slower. Hear the music, before your song is over.”

~ David L. Weatherford
