Awareness in every day

Awareness is the antidote to a life passed by in the blur of a dream. It is an access point to the deep richness and marrow of what each individual day holds, and yet at the same time is what can so easily be missed in the demands of a week.

To lose our grounding in reality to contrived thoughts and aspirations, vaguely distant in our minds, would be to forgo the authentic human experience—to see the world unclouded through this particular vantage point we temporarily inhabit.

Awareness will always be confronted by our conditioning which compels us to return to what is easy and immediate. While discipline can be useful, it is the nourishment from our moments of awareness that give us the strength and insight to persevere through difficult times and live intentionally in each moment. Quite simply, awareness is the gateway to internal freedom.

“People who want a cure, provided they can have it without pain, are like those who favour progress, provided they can have it without change.”

— Anthony de Mello
