Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Most things in life don’t matter in the grand scheme of things, yet we regularly go about our lives with an intense focus on each detail of our day, ready to jump to criticism if something goes awry. It’s simply much easier to indulge in negativity and pessimism than it is to show restraint and tolerance.

Instead of constantly looking for something to react to, try to let the small things slide past you. The more we practice this, the less emotionally reactive we become to the big, important events in life. And ultimately, the more we are able to show our care for each other. When our judgement is selective, it means so much more, and is taken that much more seriously. Much like the boy who cried wolf, we too will lose our credibility and respect when the little things push us over the edge. With restrain and control, even the softest voice is heard in the loudest storm.
