Each turn in life brings about a change in the people who surround us on this journey. People who raise us up, push us down, propel us forward, or drag us behind.
Relationships can sometimes be the biggest cause of hesitation in life, because so much of our identity and comfort is often comprised within who we call “our people”.
The thought of leaving them all can be scary, but the process of change and renewal should not be a hindrance when navigating the inevitable twists life will throw our way. Just as we came into the world with only the basic necessities, so now can we begin a life in the same way—one through which a world of beauty awaits.
So, when life places you at a fork in the road, do not let the fear of detachment scare you from your pursuit. Remember that everything is change—nothing can be held on to.
“I have no fear of losing you, for you aren’t an object of my property, or anyone else’s. I love you as you are, without attachment, without fears, without conditions, without egoism, trying not to absorb you. I love you freely because I love your freedom, as well as mine.”
~ Anthony de Mello
