Acknowledging our Arrival

Too often we spend our time lost deep in thought about where we want to go in the future, or as a polarity, we ruminate on our past as though recurring analysis will benefit our lives here today. It’s the greatest distraction from seeing reality for what it is, and we almost never realize it’s even happening.

What we are doing is not only causing greater distress and lessened joy, but inhibiting us from the learnings and awareness that the silence can provide. It’s a place of constant output with no opportunity to play the role of receiver.

Everything begins to fall into place when we acknowledge our arrival at this time and place—our arrival at where we are meant to be. We have returned home after wandering without a final destination; we have arrived at our resting place.

Free from our contrived anxieties of aimlessness and indecision, settling into where we are today can provide the greatest clarity and reassurance that life is here, life is happening, and that we’re exactly where we need to be. We’re all just coming home.

“I have arrived. I am home.”

~ Thich Nhat Hanh
