A Letter Across the Great Divide

Hello again, it’s me.

It’s been some time since you parted. While time continues to pass, your memory does not fade.

I often wonder where you found your strength. What it was inside of you that kept you going through the darkest and scariest moments in your existence. How you rationalized what consequences the future would hold.

They say the most difficult part is not letting go of yourself in a personal sense, but departing from those whom you love and who love you. Giving up all certainty in one’s life. I don’t know how you did it.

Looking back now, what do you wish you knew? What do you wish you did? If given another chance, would you do it all the same, knowing full well the repercussions of your choices?

I’d imagine you are quite at peace now. Free from the ego and detached from the worries and concerns that plague our existence. How good it must have felt to release the weight of the world from your shoulders! What a relief!

On earth, in this time and place, as the people we are, things are alright. And I mean in the fullest sense of the word, amidst trials and tribulations, all is well. Although we continue to stumble over the same obstacles and we go through our ups and downs, we are fundamentally ok. In our unity and in our isolation, we are ok.

I think you know this, and I think it makes you smile.

‘Til later.
